(The Center Square) — The Georgia House has passed a measure prohibiting non-citizens, non-legal residents or agents of foreign governments designated as foreign adversaries from buying agricultural land in the state.
Henry Herald - “As a mother, I cannot imagine the immense amount of pain sweet Addy’s family is experiencing,” said Daniel at the time the bill was introduced. “After talking with her mother, I have dropped HB 1284 in an effort to prevent drivers from being reckless when near a school bus and to also hold them accountable when they are. I am hopeful this will bring awareness to the issue and that our community will continue to rally around this family during this difficult time.”
WSB-TV - Daniel authored a bill where school districts are encouraged to consider bus routes where children don’t have to cross the street to get on a bus on roads 40 miles per hour or more. “It is not a mandate,” Daniel pointed out.
Addy’s Law would also increase the $250 fine for passing a stopped school bus Once Gov. Brian Kemp signs it, it will be $1,000.
Atlanta News First - I hope today people will leave feeling optimistic about what we’re doing as policymakers to help women and families and that we’re not forgetting about babies and women after they’re born and that we are going to continue to make steps to support women and their families as we continue to make policy,” Daniel said.
11 Alive - Rep. Lauren Daniel, a mother of four children, is sponsoring the bill.
"I think it's a positive thing for the families of the state; we are hit with rising costs at the grocery store, rising costs in childcare... rising costs to afford our mortgages," Rep. Daniel said. "This is something that helps and hopefully will continue to help every family in the state."
Georgia Recorder - A bipartisan bill designed to update sex education curriculum for Georgia’s public school students faced skepticism in a House subcommittee last week amid questions of which side in the culture war can better educate youngsters on the birds and the bees.
11 Alive -She is not the only mother in the legislature, but state Rep. Lauren Daniel (R-Locust Grove) is the only one whose baby has a badge of his own to get on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Since last year’s special session, the Republican from Locust Grove has bundled her son Zane onto her and carried him through her workday as a member of the state House of Representatives. His badge says "Zane Daniel / Baby of the House."
AJC Politics -Daniel has been noticeable on the House floor for most of the last two weeks because she has had her infant son, Zane, wrapped tightly on her chest at nearly all times. Usually sound asleep and unaware of the animus around him, Zane didn’t seem to know that he was in the well of the House Thursday afternoon as his mom gave a speech about how they both got there.
